Pressure ulcers present a major challenge in health care. It impacts patient comfort, the recovery process and available care resources. Up to 95% of these bedsores can be prevented with the right combination of prevention and technology.

A recent real-world example from Cins Medical shows how the combination of Toto’ s automatic lateral positioning and Repose’ s pressure-distributing surfaces produce excellent results in patients with limited mobility.

The case study:

A patient with severe mobility limitations after a stroke developed a category IV pressure ulcer at the level of the sacrum during her stay at a rehabilitation center.

The severe wound included full-thickness skin and tissue loss accompanied by pain and infection. Manual repositioning every few hours proved difficult to sustain and often caused discomfort.

A more effective, patient-friendly approach was needed to relieve pressure, protect the skin and support recovery.

Results: Toto and Repose in action

Together with a thoughtful care plan, these solutions created a healing environment that supported both patient recovery and efficiency of care delivery. With the following results:

  • Full wound closure
  • Increased quality of life through improved comfort
  • Reduced workload for caregivers thanks to ergonomic tools

The power of the combination of Toto® and Repose®:

Lateral positioning systems such as Toto are most effective when combined with immersion and envelopement systems such as the Repose Mattress Overlay. Toto provides automatic, consistent repositioning, while Repose delivers advanced skin protection through pressure distribution.

Together, they address both compressive and shear forces-the two main causes of pressure ulcers-and create optimal conditions for healing.

This combination of innovative technology and holistic care led to complete wound healing, pain reduction and a significant improvement in the patient’s quality of life.
